Distribution:
Frequently planted in the hill districts (especially by reservoirs), occasional
to locally frequent in the lowlands.
Habitat:
Plantations often on winter wet soils where there is increasing evidence of
regeneration; mixed woodlands and shaded railway banks.
Comments:
Neophyte, planted and self-sown, native to the coastal fringes of north-western
America. Two white stripes of stomata are present on the lower surface of the
leaves.
