Distribution:
Widely established in the western lowlands, but scarce elsewhere, this species
is particularly frequent in hedgerows between Tarleton, Croston and Penwortham.
Habitat:
Hedgerows, woodlands, river and railway banks.
Comments:
Neophyte, planted or possibly occasionally bird-sown, native to south-western
Asia. The earliest record traced is from Speke Hall Woods (SJ48B, LNFC Exc.,
1865).
