Sambucus nigra L. - Elder

Found in more than six tetrads between 1995 and 2005 so the general details for this species will be presented in the forthcoming Flora of South Lancashire (in prep.). Details supplementary to those appearing in the flora publication will be displayed here in due course.

Comments:
The var. laciniata was mentioned by Withering as “wild in hedges near Manchester” and is now found occasionally as a planted shrub and escape from gardens.
