Distribution:
Most locations are within Merseyside and include Bentham’s Way (SD31M,
DP Earl, 2002); below Sandhills Station (SJ39L, DP Earl & J Earl, 2003);
Blundellsands Key Park (SD30A, Liverpool Botanical Society Exc., 2003); Pasture
Lane, Formby (SD30D, DP Earl & J Earl, 2004); Otterspool Park tip (SJ3785,
DP Earl & J Earl, 2009).
A few planted bushes have been found in Lancashire by the A582, Cuerden Green
(SD52M, DP Earl & J Earl, 2003) and at Chorley (SD5817, Wild Flower Society
Last Days Hunt, 2011).
Habitat:
Amenity shrub plantings on roadsides, derelict land, etc.
Comments:
Neophyte, native to the Mediterranean. Plants may be self-sown as there does
appear to have been an increase in the number of plants occurring at Sandhills
over the last few years.
