Distribution:
Occasional along or nearby to the coast from Hightown to Banks; Liverpool Festival
Gardens Site (SJ38T, S White & MK Brummage, 1998); rare further inland with
a single record from Woodlands Road (SD80K, AR Locksley & C Walsh, 2004).
Habitat:
Planted in hedgerows, amenity areas and parks on sandy soils generally nearby
to the sea.
Comments:
Neophyte, native to the Mediterranean; long known from the Sefton coast with
a record from Ainsdale (SD31B, JD Massey, 1922, LIV).
